Police Cadet Program
The Santa Monica Police Department Cadet Program is a law enforcement apprenticeship program that offers training and varied work assignments to persons currently enrolled in an accredited college or university maintaining a minimum of 9 semester units or the equivalent and must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment. The Cadet program provides qualified men and women with a chance to experience the challenges and personal rewards of a police career. Cadets are paid on a part-time basis. Cadets are rotated through a variety of divisions to provide exposure to many aspects of law enforcement including support services. Amongst other duties, police Cadets act as a liaison between the police and youth in our community.
The Police Cadet expectations are high morals, excelling academically, using good judgment, and being active in the community.
