How to Book a Study Room or Workspace at the Library
All study rooms and workspaces follow the Library's Study Spaces Policy. A reservation is required. Reserve for free using your valid Santa Monica Public Library card.
Study rooms and Workspaces are available for reservation up to 1 day in advance. Study rooms are available for two hours at the Main Library and up to two 1-hour sessions per day at the Pico Branch. Workspace reservations are available for 4-hour sessions.

Please arrive promptly - within 10 minutes of your reservation start time - and check in with staff at the appropriate desk. Then check out with staff at the end of your study room session.
Main Library - Study Rooms (2nd Floor)
There are seven (7) study rooms located on the 2nd floor. Most rooms accommodate up to 4 persons. Study rooms 8 and 9 can accommodate up to 6 persons. Electrical outlets and whiteboards are available.
Main Library - Workspaces (2nd Floor)
There are eighteen (18) workspace tables located on the 2nd floor, each workspace accommodates one (1) person each. These workspace tables are meant for personal laptop use, studying, reading, or work. Electrical outlets are available for your charging convenience.
Reservations for workspaces with an adjustable desk or scanner use are also available.

Main Library - Workspace Laptops (2nd Floor)
A laptop may be borrowed in conjunction with a workspace or study room reservation at the Main Library. Laptops are first come, first served. Check with staff at the 2nd Floor Workspace desk for availability.
- Laptop use is available for up to 4 hours.
- Laptop use is limited to the workspace area or study room.
- Laptop must be returned at the end of the workspace or study room reservation, or at the end of the 4-hour reservation (whichever comes first).
- Laptops cannot be renewed for additional time.
Main Library - Youth Services Study Rooms (1st Floor)
The Children’s Library Teen Lounge Area on the 1st floor has five (5) youth study rooms which hold a maximum of 4 persons. Youth study rooms are available for small groups of children or teens who need space to work together on projects. Electrical outlets and whiteboards are available in each room.
The Pico Branch Library offers three (3) study rooms near the adult internet stations. Electrical outlets and whiteboards are available in each room. There is a 4-person occupancy limit per study room.
