How to Pay Your Fire Inspection Bill

Effective July 1, 2023 Wittman Enterprise in conjunction with our inspection software provider First Due will coordinate the invoices and payment of charges associated with annual fire inspection billing. For questions regarding fire inspection payment procedures contact Wittman Enterprise at 1-800-906-6552 or the Service Portal(webillems.com).

The Santa Monica Fire Department is ultimately responsible for the charges associated with your inspection, if you feel you have been charged in error or have questions regarding fees and for all matters unrelated to the processing of payment please contact the Santa Monica Fire Prevention Division at 310-458-8915 or smfireprevention@santamonica.gov.

Who is Wittman Enterprise and why am I receiving this bill?

On April 1 2022, The Santa Monica Fire Department received approval from The Santa Monica City Council to hire a 3rd party billing company to facilitate the invoicing and collection of payments. This will allow your Fire Department to inspect more residences and businesses than ever before providing for the increased overall safety of the citizenry.

Is the contracting of a 3rd party billing company impacting my inspection fees?

No. The Fire Departments Inspection related fees approved by the Santa Monica City Council are calculated based on a number of factors including but not limited to: the Inspector’s time, complexity and occupancy type.

What is the process for Inspection and Billing as it relates to the Santa Monica Fire Department?

Your annual inspection will be conducted by a Santa Monica Fire Department Fire Inspector and you will receive your inspection notice in real time. Your bill will then be processed by Wittman the following month where you will receive your invoice along with payment instructions.

Can we pay with a credit card?

At this time we are not accepting credit card payments. A credit card option will be available in the near future.
