The GoSaMo Achievement Awards celebrate businesses that are making a notable effort to reduce traffic and greenhouse gas emissions in Santa Monica. On May 21st, the Transportation Management Organization (TMO) and the City’s Mobility Division hosted an Awards Lunch to celebrate Santa Monica businesses with outstanding sustainable commuting programs as well as those that are making consistent improvements in their programs.
This year’s Awards recognized a diverse group of large and small businesses that spanned a wide range of industries and locations throughout the City. Combined, these businesses removed an additional 600 vehicle trips from Santa Monica streets every week!

As part of the City’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) ordinance, all employers with 30 or more employees must work to reduce the number of people driving alone to work by promoting sustainable transportation options like bus, train, carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, and telework. This is no easy task and we are proud to recognize those putting in the work to help reduce traffic congestion and improve our air quality.
Businesses are automatically awarded points by submitting their Emission Reduction Plan, as part of compliance with the TDM Ordinance. There is still time earn points for the 2018-19 cycle! See the points chart and begin earning point towards the employer recognition program.
The GoSaMo TMO works to reduce drive-alone trips by promoting the increased use of sustainable travel options. To join the TMO at a future event and keep track of everything the TMO is up to, visit GoSaMo.org/TMO to sign up for the monthly newsletter and follow our twitter account (@AskGoSaMo).
