How to Pay or Contest a Parking Ticket

Parking restrictions are necessary to properly manage and maximize public benefit from the City's on-street parking resources and support the diverse needs of the City's on-street parking users and stakeholders. Parking citations/tickets are issued to improve compliance with these restrictions.

To Pay:

The City of Santa Monica accepts payment of parking citations online using Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

You may request your initial review by filling out a simple online form.

Photos or other supporting documentation that you wish to include as part of your Initial Review submission can be uploaded as part your online request.

You can request an Initial Review or pay a citation by calling the telephone number below between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday:

The Initial Review will be recorded via telephone by the Customer Service Representative (CSR).

You may wish to select this option if you have supporting documentation you would like to present, such as proof of current registration, photographs, or change of vehicle ownership information. You can request an Initial Review by writing to the following address:

Write a letter to the above address explaining why you believe that the citation was issued in error. Include any documentation which may support your claim. Sent copies of documentation will not be returned. Once your letter is received, an Initial Review will be conducted by the City.
