How do I dispose of my old Fire Extinguisher?

Please drop off expelled/non-expelled Fire Extinguishers at Household Hazardous Waste, 2500 Michigan AV, City Yards, on the 2nd Wednesday of the month only. For questions please call Household Hazard Waste, (310) 458-8255).

How Do I Obtain a Special Event Fire Permit Application?

Special Event Permit Applications are required for events using open flames, candles, propane, Christmas tree lots, motor vehicles in buildings, and for carnivals & fairs. Click here for a permit application.

Where can I find information about Vending in Santa Monica?

Santa Monica was one of the first cities in the state to develop a permitted vending program. The City's comprehensive program has allowed permitted or licensed vendors to operate for over 30 years. How do I get a Knox Box?

1. Go to knoxbox.com or call 800-552-5669.
2. You will purchase a Knox box Model #1662 (For Business/Commercial - ask for larger model number to accommodate number of keys) and ask that it is keyed for the Santa Monica Fire Department.
3. Have the Knox box installed on the street side of your residence – in the direct vicinity of the front entry gate.
4. Make a spare key to your residence (Business/Commercial, keys to common area access, i.e., garage, front door gates, laundry etc.,).
5. Contact us when the key (s) and box are ready ((310) 458-8915, smfireprevention@santamonica.gov).
6. We will place your key (s) in the Knox Box.
