The GoSaMo Transportation Management Organization (TMO) and the City’s Mobility Division hosted the second annual GoSaMo Achievement Awards Lunch to recognize Santa Monica employers with outstanding sustainable commuting programs as well as those that are making consistent improvements in their programs. Employee Transportation Coordinators (ETCs), business representatives, and community members gathered with City and TMO staff to celebrate the employers who received awards.  Attendees hosted at Enterprise Fish Company, a Silver award winner in 2017-2018, and were treated to entertainment by Santa Monica’s own Rideshare Jeff!

A diverse group of 23 employers were recognized at the GoSaMo awards Luncheon. These employers together reduced 400 vehicle trips per day in the past year. A significant accomplishment! We are proud to recognize these employers for their efforts in reducing drive-alone trips, traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions in Santa Monica.

As part of the City’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) ordinance, all employers with 30 or more employees must strive to reduce the number of employees driving alone to work by encouraging sustainable transportation options like bus, train, carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, scooter, and telework.

Kite’s Broadway/Colorado Center location earned the first-ever Platinum GoSaMo Achievement Award. They also received a Gold award for their 17th Street location and a Silver for their Stewart Street location.

5 Gold GoSaMo Achievement Award Recipients

17 Silver GoSaMo Achievement Award Recipients

There is no application process for the GoSaMo Achievement Awards. Businesses with over 30 employees throughout the city are automatically awarded points. Points are given in several categories including reducing the number of vehicles arriving to the worksite, meeting Average Vehicle Ridership (AVR) targets, working with the GoSaMo TMO, and selecting the strategies that have the most impact on reducing vehicle dependence.

There is still time to earn points for the 2019-2020 cycle! See the points chart and begin earning points towards your GoSaMo Achievement Award next year.

The GoSaMo TMO works to reduce drive-alone trips by promoting the increased use of sustainable travel options. The TMO hosts quarterly events on different transportation issues in Santa Monica.
