Happy Birthday Marion!
Happy Birthday Marion!
Join the Santa Monica Conservancy in celebrating Marion Davies -- silent film actress, famed party hostess at the Annenberg Community Beach House, which originated as her beachfront estate in the 1920s.
Enjoy live music by Natalie Jacob & The Vintage Quartet. Learn social dances of the 1920’s and 30’s with James Zimmer & Cynthia Harper, Co-Founders of UCLA’s Historical Ballroom Dance Club. Enjoy sleight of hand with the agile Tom Frank. In attendance will be Davies’ biographer Lara Gabrielle and Hollywood historian Marc Wanamaker, both of whom will be meeting guests at the historic Julia Morgan-designed Guest House. Gabrielle’s book, Captain of Her Soul: The Life of Marion Davies and Wanamaker’s book, Hollywood on the Santa Monica Beach, will be available for purchase. Following the festivities, stay for the Little Old New York, a 1923 Davies silent film.
All are welcome to come in vintage dress or costume reminiscent of the twenties and thirties.
Happy Birthday Marion! is a free, all ages event. Reservations are requested.
