Ring in a Musical Summer at the Santa Monica Public Library

Santa Monica, California –To kick off the 2015 Kids and Teens Summer Reading Program, families are invited to a special concert featuring the Mark Twain Ringers at the Santa Monica Public Library, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard, on Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium. Seating is limited and will be on a first arrival basis.
The Mark Twain Ringers are a group of talented students from diverse backgrounds within the Los Angeles area. Under the direction of Ron Theile, this multicultural group of young people has devoted time and energy to perfecting the art of English Handbell ringing. Their mastery of handbell ringing also helps them to focus on the academic and social aspects of their lives. The fact that they are a close family of musicians at school helps them to create a strong sense of community both at school and at home, and they are an inspiration to their peers and to others. The group was formed in 2000 at Mark Twain Middle School, and is supported by the entire community. They have been featured at Knott’s Berry Farm and Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and have performed in London during the 2012 Olympic Games.
