September 11, 2015 4:00 PM
Santa Monica, California – Santa Monica Public Library welcomes author Annie Jacobsen for the launch of her latest book The Pentagon’s Brain on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
Investigative journalist Annie Jacobsen has long been a friend of the Santa Monica Public Library, launching both of her previous New York Times best sellers Area 51 and Operation Paperclip at our Main Library. Now she returns with her latest book, The Pentagon’s Brain, a definitive history of DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency. In this first-of-its-kind exposé of the Defense Department’s most secret, powerful and controversial military science R&D agency, Jacobsen draws on inside sources, exclusive interviews, private documents, and declassified memos to paint a picture of DARPA from its Cold War inception to the present. A book sale and signing follows the author’s presentation.
This program free and open to all ages. Seating is first come, first served. The Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible. For special disabled services, call Library Administration at (310) 458-8606 at least one week prior to event. The Main Library is served by Big Blue Bus routes 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
