Santa Monica Public Library presents
Santa Monica Cares: Short Documentary Films
Santa Monica, California- Santa Monica Public Library is pleased to offer a special screening of Emmy award-winning public service announcements from Directors Guild of America (DGA) members on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 6:00 pm in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard. The series focuses on three Santa Monica Cares organizations: Bread and Roses Café, directed by Dianne Bartlow; StepUp directed by Jerri Sher, and; Ocean Park Community Center directed by Melanie Wagor.
The series is a co-production of the DGA Women's Steering Committee and Santa Monica’s CityTV. A panel discussion with the film directors and representatives from the organizations featured (St. Joseph Center, StepUp on Second and OPCC) follows the screenings. The panel shares their hopes for this project and discusses how each organization empowers members of the Santa Monica community to succeed.
Audience members are invited to join the panel participants for a light mixer following the discussion. This event is free and open to the public with seating on a first come basis.
