3rd Annual Arts & Literacy Festival at Virginia Avenue Park is One Week Away – Join Us April 29th

SANTA MONICA, CA – The City of Santa Monica’s Annual Arts & Literacy Festival at Virginia Avenue Park is one week away! Come out and enjoy a day of activities at one of your favorite parks with live performances, an active zone, a secret garden reading area, and tons of activities hosted by community organizations.
Where: Virginia Avenue Park Campus, 2201 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405
When: Saturday, April 29, 2017, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
What: Spend the day at Virginia Avenue Park reading and making art in the park. Attendees will enjoy a wide variety of performances including Hikari Taiko Drummers, a magic show with David Groves, a children’s spring parade, a Farmers Market cooking demonstration, a performance by Rhythm Child, and a magical secret garden reading area.
The event will feature over 20 different Santa Monica agencies offering participatory games and activities promoting Santa Monica’s Cradle to Career Kindergarten Readiness Campaign as well as an active zone where Santa Monica Police Department officers will lead games and Venice Family Clinic will host a bubble area.
The Cradle to Career Building Blocks for Kindergarten Campaign will also launch Vroom to spread opportunities for brain building moments with children. Youth can fill out an explorer card to receive a free book from the Santa Monica Public Library.
