Annenberg Community Beach House 10th Anniversary Season Celebrates Beachside Memory-Making
April 11, 2019 11:10 AM
SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Since opening to the public in 2009, the Annenberg Community Beach House has hosted year-round activities for all to enjoy. This summer, the Annenberg Community Beach House is celebrating its 10th Anniversary season, kicking off with “Have a Beach Ball,” an event capturing a public memory-making moment at the City of Santa Monica’s iconic facility just off the Pacific Coast Highway. Throughout the season, photos, videos and other memories past and present will be shared online at annenbergbeachhouse.com to showcase a decade of fun-in-the-sun gatherings, activities and programs enjoyed by tens of thousands of visitors.
“For a decade, the Annenberg Community Beach House has been an oasis for families and visitors to make memories and enjoy the splendor of a beachside afternoon,” said Mayor Gleam Davis. “There’s no public facility quite like it and we hope residents who have yet to discover the Beach House’s programming for all ages will come out this spring and summer.”
Annenberg Foundation Chairman of the Board, CEO, and President Wallis Annenberg, shared: “It’s so wonderful to be celebrating the anniversary of the Annenberg Community Beach House. For ten years, the public has been able to enjoy this one-of-a-kind destination, with its gorgeous Santa Monica beach views, beautiful recreation and event facilities, and the impeccably restored Marion Davies Guest House and pool — now almost 100 years old! Here’s to another 10 years and beyond.”
All are invited to enjoy daily recreational swimming in the historic pool (reservations are never required), free cultural programs, community events, and recreation activities.

About the Annenberg Community Beach House
The Annenberg Community Beach House at Santa Monica State Beach is owned by the State of California and operated by the City of Santa Monica. The Annenberg Community Beach House is made possible by a generous gift from the Annenberg Foundation, at the direction of Wallis Annenberg, and in partnership with the City of Santa Monica and California State Parks. Additional funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.
The Beach House story is one of evolution from private to public, starting with the development of the property at 415 Pacific Coast Highway as an opulent private estate of silent film star Marion Davies in the 1920s.
