Officers Seize Gun & High Capacity Magazine in Narcotics Arrest

Santa Monica, CA – Thursday, April 8th at approximately 7:00pm, SMPD officers seized over 2 pounds of marijuana, a 9mm handgun and a high-capacity 9mm magazine loaded with 16 rounds from a suspect with a prior conviction for 1st degree manslaughter. A second suspect was also booked on narcotics sales charges.
While on patrol, SMPD officers observed what appeared to be a hand-to-hand purchase of marijuana near Ocean Avenue and Colorado Blvd. During a traffic stop related to this narcotics violation, officers discovered a large quantity of marijuana, an unregistered firearm, and a loaded magazine in the rear of the vehicle.
Suspect #1: Ramirez-Sanchez, Randy Francis, a 32-year-old Black male from New York was charged with 29800(A)(1)PC – Convicted felon in possession of a firearm; 32310(A)PC – Possessing a high capacity magazine; 11360(A) H&S – Selling/transporting marijuana; 11359 H&S- Possession of marijuana for sale; and 12500(A)VC – Driving without
a license.
Suspect#2: Pujols, Steven, a 36-year-old Hispanic male from New York was charged with 11360(A) H&S – Selling/transporting marijuana and 11359 H&S- Possession of marijuana for sale.
