Masks Required Indoors in Santa Monica in Line with LA County Public Health

July 15, 2021 6:24 PM

Today, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health changed its guidance on mask wearing to require face masks indoors regardless of vaccination status. The requirement takes effect Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. and applies within the City of Santa Monica. The City asks for the public’s attention and adherence to the requirement that comes as the County reported 1,537 new COVID-19 cases, a 500% increase over the last month.  This spike in cases and the prevalence of the Delta variant is the cause for the return of this highly effective tool to combat COVID-19.

The best tool to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to move forward with economic and social recovery is to get vaccinated. The free, effective, and safe vaccine is readily available in Santa Monica and throughout LA County. To receive your COVID-19 vaccine, visit www.vaccines.gov

Santa Monica Health Ambassadors will be conducting business outreach to ensure mask compliance. To report a concern about public health compliance during City business hours, please contact 311 or (866) 311-7266, email 311@santamonica.gov or submit a request at santamonica.gov/311. Violations can also be reported directly to Los Angeles County Department of Public Health at 888-700-9995 or by emailing EHMail@ph.lacounty.gov.
