In November 2020, The City of Santa Monica was recognized by The Center for Digital Government for our innovative use of technology to quickly respond to the community's needs around COVID-19. The city’s use of technology has not only allowed us to better respond to the pandemic, but to also help tackle social challenges, enhance services, strengthen cybersecurity, and more. Each year, the International Code Council (ICC) recognizes outstanding contributions to building codes or public policy in the fields of energy efficiency and sustainability. At the ICC Virtual Awards Event in November 2020, The City of Santa Monica was recognized for our efforts in creating new programs and policies that have led to changes not only locally, but nationally.
