Main Library to Open Saturdays and All Locations to Expand Evening Hours

We heard you! The Main Library will now open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Saturday, September 2, 2023.
At its June 27, 2023, meeting, Santa Monica City Council approved funding for further restoration of library hours. Expanded operating hours include Saturday service and operating hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Thursday at the Main Library and evening hours until 8 p.m. at all branch locations. Operating hours will increase from 116 hours per week across five locations to 138 hours per week.
“We are excited and eager to restore Saturday hours at Main Library and evening hours at all locations during the week. Our library buildings are community centers filled with activities, materials, and opportunities for people to learn and connect with one another. Being open more hours allows us to contribute to our vibrant, engaged community in meaningful ways,” said Erica Cuyugan, Director of Library Services.
Come on in to browse the adult and youth collections; pick up holds; check out materials; use a computer, meeting, or study room; work or study in the new 2nd floor workspace; and interact with friendly, knowledgeable staff.
