Career Online High School
Funded by the California State Library and the Friends of the Santa Monica Public Library, Career Online High School (COHS) offers adult students the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and a career certificate. The Library offers a limited number of COHS scholarships each year. The program is self-paced and each credit is designed to be completed in one month. To apply for a Career Online High School scholarship, you must:
Be 18 years or older.
Be proficient in using computers, as this is an online program.
Complete the Are You Ready? survey.
Commit 8-10 hours per week to study and complete coursework.
Possess or register for a Santa Monica Public Library card.
If you are selected for the program, you will have the opportunity to:
Take a 2-week prerequisite course. Upon completion, you can enroll in the full program.
Take classes online, with the flexibility to access classwork 24/7.
Be supported by certified instructors and an academic coach.
Earn an accredited high school diploma while preparing for a career in one of 9 high-demand, high-growth fields.
Graduate with the tools to advance in your profession or take the next step in your education.

You create a career portfolio containing important documents such as your resume and cover letters.
You will be given up to 18 months to complete the program
You may be able to transfer credits from previously completed accredited high school courses, which will shorten your completion time.
