John Putnam is a dedicated small business owner and civic leader with deep roots in Santa Monica. From his early days as a stock boy to leading industry-defining ventures like Putnam Accessory Group and Version MFG, John’s 40-year career in the apparel industry is marked by creativity and a relentless work ethic. His success has not distanced him from the community he loves; instead, it has strengthened his commitment to giving back.

John is actively involved in community service, providing Thanksgiving meals and essential items to over 1,000 needy families each year. His “Love Packs” project, which distributes coats and blankets during the holiday season, is another testament to his dedication. As a board member of Heroes’ Movement, he supports veterans' mental and physical well-being. During the COVID-19 pandemic, John produced and donated protective gear to local hospitals, highlighting his proactive community engagement.

His commitment extends to education, where he served for eight years on the Saint Monica Preparatory School Board, advocating for higher educational standards. He also values the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District’s support for special needs children, inspired by his daughter Brook’s experience.
