Candidate Statement in English

As a proud alumni of Santa Monica College Public Policy Institute and the chair of the Santa Monica Rent Control Board, I remember when Santa Monica was a wonderful place to live, work and play. Now as a former Downtown Santa Monica board member I have seen our businesses dwindle down and our police requests skyrocket. We can’t continue to go down this road we need change.

As a community activist, daughter of retired military veterans, entrepreneur, and single parent, I want all residents of Santa Monica to live in a vibrant, thriving, affordable and safe environment. My longstanding community, and tenant activism, along with my experience as a strategic planner drives my vision for a more inclusive and vibrant community.

I will lead efforts for the council to work collaboratively with the county, and state, to find solutions to our homelessness crisis. We must be more welcoming to small businesses, and we must reimagine mobility and what it means to get around safely in Santa Monica. We must be mindful of children going to and from school, and allow new technologies to help us design our streets and traffic lights.

I believe in responsible fiscal policies, and sustainable development that benefits our environment and promotes healthy water and air.
