Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary loan is the process by which a library requests material from, or supplies material to, another library. If you’re interested in a title we don’t have, we can request it from another library in the US on your behalf and, if fulfilled, send it to any of our branches for pick-up.
Notes about ILL
Before requesting, note that this process can take as little as four weeks, but can take longer to procure more obscure titles. The patron will also be responsible for a $5.00 for the request, regardless of whether it is filled or not. Depending on the title, other institutions may charge additional fees for the material, though we will notify you if that is the case.
Interested in Requesting an ILL?
Email library@santamonica.gov with your name, library card number, title and author of the material, which library branch you want to pick it up at (should the request be fulfilled), and best way to contact you.
