Let Your Imagination Soar at the Library
August 29, 2022 2:53 PM
September is both National Literacy Month and Library Card Sign-up Month. Learning to read proficiently is a child’s best chance for success in school and in life. Join us in celebrating Library Card Sign-up Month by visiting a Santa Monica Public Library (SMPL) location and signing up today.
Libraries play a crucial role in the education, literacy, and development of children, offering a variety of programs to spark imagination and stimulate an interest in reading and learning. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams, explore new passions and interests, and find their voice.
“Libraries open up whole new worlds and offer lifelong learning opportunities for our community, including our children and families,” says Erica Cuyugan, Director of Library Services. “At SMPL, patrons of all ages can find a variety of materials, educational resources, and programs. We’ve made using the library easier because library cardholders are not charged overdue fines if they return materials late.”
Stop by the Main Library, Montana Avenue, and Pico Branches to sign-up for your free library card and discover the Library’s programs, resources, and services that help your imagination soar:
