Metro seeks community input for housing development at Metro E line 17th St/SMC station
October 10, 2024 1:56 PM
As part of its 10,000 Home Commitment, Metro is working to build housing – in particular, affordable housing – on underutilized Metro-owned properties, creating opportunities for people to live near transit and helping to mitigate the housing and homelessness crises.
One of the first sites being developed is a property near the 17th Street/Santa Monica College station in Santa Monica. Metro plans to select developers to create income-restricted housing and wants input from the community on the architectural design, services, community spaces and other project considerations.
On Oct. 4, Metro began a 45-day public comment period, and invites the community to submit feedback by:
- Completing the survey: 17th/SMC Station survey.
- Joining a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., to learn what has been gathered from the site-specific surveys so far, how to can get involved, and what the next steps in the process are. View full details.
Please note that this development is not affiliated with the city; this is Metro’s project, but it is taking place in Santa Monica and the city is helping get the word out to the community.
