SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Jan. 29, 2025) – The city of Santa Monica is seeking public participation in the planning and development of the Fiscal Year 2025-27 Operating Budget.
Community members can share input via an online survey, available in English and Spanish, through Feb. 17.
In addition, the city will host three community meetings to provide an overview of the budget outlook and gather input on community priorities. Interpretation services in Spanish will be provided for all meetings.
The community budget meetings will be held in person at multiple locations throughout Santa Monica, and one in a virtual format, on the following days:
- Feb. 6 at 6 p.m., Main Library Multipurpose Room, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
- Feb. 13 at 6 p.m., Virtual Webinar. Click here for link and call-in information
- Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m., Virginia Avenue Park Thelma Terry Building, 2200 Virginia Ave.
Public input is an important and valued part of the city’s budget preparation process. The community budget meetings and online survey play an integral part in helping the city understand what the budget priorities should be.
“I encourage all residents and business owners to share their thoughts and ideas and be educated about the city’s budget realities,” Mayor Lana Negrete. “This process shapes the next two years of spending in our city and the City Council values everyone’s involvement.”
Feedback provided at the community meetings and through the survey will be shared with the Santa Monica City Council prior to the development of the proposed budget.
