Transient Occupancy Tax Advisory Committee
On February 28, 2023, the Santa Monica City Council adopted a resolution establishing a Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Advisory Committee to make non-binding recommendations on the use of the TOT revenues generated by Measure CS.
The TOT Advisory Committee consists of five-members, appointed by Council through a public process, that includes Santa Monica residents and representatives from local businesses, including the hospitality industry and the homeless behavioral health services community. Santa Monica Travel and Tourism is authorized to provide the City Council with two non-binding recommendations for the two members or representatives from the local hospitality business for the City Council’s consideration.
The Committee is made up of the following:
- Two members who are Santa Monica residents
- Two representatives or members from local hospitality businesses
- One member representing the homeless behavioral health services community

Written Public Comment: In lieu of oral public comment, the public is strongly encouraged to submit written public comment on agenda items via email to finance.mailbox@santamonica.gov. Written public comment submitted before 2:00 pm on the day of the meeting will be available for online viewing. Please note the agenda item number in the subject line of your written comments.
Oral Public Comment: Oral public comment from any one individual is limited to a total of 6 minutes per TOT Advisory Committee meeting, with a maximum of 2 minutes per agenda item, under some circumstances, the committee may change the maximum to 1 minute per agenda item.
