Trades Intern Program

Trades Intern The City of Santa Monica Trades Intern Program is a 2-year limited term position that gives on the job training experience to adults between the ages of 18 and over.  Applicants need to have a Class C driver's license or have attended SMMUSD schools in Santa Monica to apply.  Participants are paid $20.32 per hour while learning new skills in various occupational trades at Big Blue Bus, Airport Park Maintenance and Water Department.  They receive paid on the job training to acquire foundational skills in a trade, as well are provided with resources to succeed in life both in and outside the workplace that will prepare them for future employment in the skilled trades.

During the internship, interns participate in a weekly jobs skills class and are required to continue their education by completing their GED or attend Trade School in a trade.
