1:35 p.m. Oct. 18: Protest activity has concluded in Palisades Park. Ocean Avenue is reopened to traffic. This page will no longer be updated. Santa Monica is closely monitoring the “No Kings” rally scheduled for Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Palisades Park.

The city respects everyone’s First Amendment right to peaceful protest and wants to ensure our community can do so in a safe manner. However, criminal behavior will not be tolerated. Individuals taking advantage of the situation with criminal acts will be subject to arrest and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
For protest participants:
We are committed to upholding everyone’s right to peacefully demonstrate. Follow event rules and guidelines provided by organizers. Keep it peaceful. Do not bring any of the following prohibited items:
- Firearms and replicas of any kind
- Knives of any kind
- Lumber or wood
- Baseball bats
- Umbrellas (prohibited unless raining; must be 16” or smaller when collapsed and have a blunt tip)
- Projectile launchers
- Glass/metal bottles & frozen water bottles
- Gas masks or similar
- Laser pointers
- Body Armor/tactical or load-bearing vests/shields
- Plastic or metal pipes
- Aerosol sprays/containers of hazardous or noxious substances
- Chains
- Torches, open flames or explosives of any kind
- Bricks, rocks, asphalt, ball bearings or metal pellets
- Traffic cones
- A-frames
- Leaf blowers (gas/electric)
- Hammers/mallets & similar tools
- Helmets (bicycle, motorcycle, sports or ballistic)
Familiarize yourself with prohibited items from event organizers and the above items.

Reporting an incident:
If you witness crime in progress, call 9-1-1. If you cannot safely do so, text 9-1-1. To report an incident that does not require an immediate police response, contact the non-emergency dispatcher at (310) 458-8491.
